The Druze community represents
about 7% of the population of Lebanon. Most of it resides in Jabal
al-Shouf.
In the Mukhtara Family Palace, resides the Druze leader. A fresh water
spring passes through the palace. The palace is a classical example of
Oriental style palaces, and was built in the 19th Century. The Druze
leader opens his palace to his Druze community at the end of every week, to
listen to their issues, and provide them humble and wise advice
